The Dream Scholarship Program

WHAT WE DO

Our role is to provide families with financial hardship the opportunity to attend Opendoor After School through scholarship funding. We partner with Pitt County Schools Social Workers for the selection of students who would benefit from the services that the Dream Scholarship Program is able to provide.  After School will offer a safe, caring, and fun after-school environment with a focus on Jesus, homework assistance, and community. 

Each day, with our low student/teacher ratio, Dream Scholarship Students will have assistance with their homework and join in with After School Students for games and fun activities. Ministry happens everyday. Worship, Word, and Small Group time happens weekly. Our prayer is that each student will fall madly in love with Jesus during their time with us and develop lasting, healthy friendships.

During our 10-week Summer Camp program, which we offer 5 days a week during summer, Dream Scholarship students have the opportunity to participate in daily activities, weekly field trips, and weekly tutoring sessions.

When you donate to The Dream Scholarship Program, you are giving students the opportunity to be a part of something bigger. Your donation helps provide a way for students to attend Opendoor After School and Summer Camp and receive all the added resources the Dream Scholarship Program provides.

To better assist working parents, childcare is available on teacher workdays, extended holiday breaks, or anytime school is not in session. We are here to support the Dream Scholarship Families, and your generous donations make that possible.

  • The complete cost to scholarship a student for one full year of After School and Summer Camp is $10,000 and every dollar counts. If you are interested in investing in a child’s life, click “DONATE” below.

MENTORSHIP

We are passionate about stewarding what God has given our program. Our heart is to invest in these students and encourage them as they discover their identity as a child of God.

  • We offer academic support to our Dream Scholarship Students by assisting with homework daily as well as tutoring sessions throughout the summer, if needed. The material ranges from 1st grade to 5th grade. The Dream Scholarship Program operates Monday through Friday, immediately after school and during Summer Camp.

  • Our mentors volunteer to serve with the Dream Scholarship Program and are a vital part of what we do. They remain present and engaged with our students by building strong relationships, speaking positivity into their lives, and encouraging them with love and grace. It is our goal to reflect Jesus in all that we do.

The Dream Scholarship Program exists to help students overcome the academic, social, and emotional effects of financial hardship through a Spirit-led, after-school program.

Through partnership with Pitt County Schools, this program is both an extension of the school system and Opendoor After School. Students are offered the opportunity to participate based on our heart to fulfill James 1:27 and through our partnership with the Pitt County School Social Workers. It is because of the generosity of the Opendoor Church family that the Dream Scholarship Program exists and continues to touch the lives of families in our community.
